Our insider tips for the summer

Activities and events in Sand in Taufers and surroundings:

Sporty on the road

The unique mountain world of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park can be discovered in many different ways. Let's go outdoors - and enjoy the clear mountain air and idyllic nature! Whether on panoramic summit tours, leisurely hut hikes, whether in hiking boots, on the saddle of a mountain bike or rafting, kayaking or canyoning in the roaring waters of the Ahr - sports enthusiasts are in the right place!

Taufers Castle

Within sight of the Spanglwirt and within easy walking distance is the imposing Taufers Castle, one of the best preserved castles in South Tyrol. Not only culturally interested holidaymakers get their money's worth when visiting the castle: here you will be rewarded with a unique view of Sand in Taufers!

Reinbach waterfalls and Franziskusweg

If you spend your holiday in Sand in Taufers, you must not miss the impressive natural spectacle of the Reinbach waterfalls! Directly from the Spanglwirt on foot or easily accessible by car, the Franziskusweg (contemplation path to the Song of the Sun) leads through a mystical natural landscape, past three thunderous waterfalls to the lovingly restored Toblkapelle (St. Ravens' Chapel), which dates back to the 12th century.

Prettau colliery

A visit to the Prettau exhibition mine is particularly instructive and exciting. Equipped with a safety helmet and headlamp, visitors can take a small train deep into the exhibition gallery and experience the former life and hard work of the miners at first hand.

Maranatha Crib Museum

"Maranatha" is the name of the crib museum in Luttach in the Ahrn valley, which has existed since 2000 and has been expanded and made even more attractive since then. This name goes back to an Aramaic exclamation which was used by the former Christians and which means something like "Our Lord has come" - appropriate for a crib museum. An imaginative crib world inside as well as an outdoor area with a sculptor's garden awaits you in the museum.

Messner Mountain Museum

Corones - Firmian - Ripa - Juval - Ortles - Dolomites

Reinhold Messner has dedicated a museum project with six locations in the breathtaking landscape of South Tyrol and Belluno to the mountain and its culture. The Messner Mountain Museum is a meeting place with the mountain. Every visit is like a mountain tour, a unique experience!

Tauferer Street Kitchen

The "Stroßnkuchl" in Sand in Taufers is the mother of all street and outdoor kitchens in South Tyrol. This summer, gourmets can look forward to two months full of moments of pleasure when the chefs of the local restaurants and taverns take out their kitchen utensils and prepare South Tyrolean specialities and Mediterranean delicacies under the open sky. Every Tuesday evening in July and August.
